Who Jesus is According to the Book of Hebrews

A few weeks ago I sat down and read through the book of Hebrews slowly, writing down everything that I saw that described who Jesus is. Here is the list.

According to the book of Hebrews, Jesus is:

  • God’s Son (1:1,5,8; 3:6; 4:14; 5:5,8; 6:6; 7:3,28; 10:29)
  • The heir of all things (1:2)
  • The creator of all things (1:2)
  • The radiance of the glory of God (1:3)
  • The exact imprint of God’s nature (1:3)
  • The upholder of the universe by the word of his power (1:3)
  • The purifier of sins (1:3; 9:14,23)
  • Exalted to God’s right hand (1:3; 8:1, 10:12; 12:2)
  • Superior to angels (1:4,5,6,7,13; 2:5)
  • The inheritor of an excellent name (1:4)
  • The firstborn son (1:6)
  • Worthy of worship (1:6)
  • King (1:8)
  • The lover of righteousness (1:9)
  • The hater of wickedness (1:9)
  • Anointed with the oil of gladness (1:9)
  • The one who laid the earth’s foundation (1:10)
