One Irrefutable Truth For Today
October 18, 2021 · David McLemore · 1 min read

There is a very simple and basic truth I want to share with you. But before I do, I want to emphasize that it’s a truth. It’s not an idea. It’s not a theory. It’s not even a hope. It’s a reality that’s as true as the chair you’re sitting on or the screen you’re reading this on.
If you’re in Christ, God delights in you, and there’s nothing you can do to change it.
He doesn’t delight in the you you wish you were. He doesn’t delight in the future version of you that finally shook the sin weighing you down. He delights in the you you are right now. He really loves the real you, and you can’t do a thing about it.
Our sensibilities aren’t comfortable with that, I know. Maybe you woke up today after a night you’re not proud of. Maybe you’re not sure what today holds and you find weaknesses in yourself so profound you wonder how you’re ever going to get where you want to go. There are so many things in this world standing against us. But there is One who stands for us, and if we’re held in his hand, no one can pluck us out.
So, face today with the full-bodied, boldly defiant truth that God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing (Zeph. 3:17).
God delights in you, and you can’t change a thing about that.
You can only receive it.

The Radical Power of Forgiveness
Forgiveness does not seem to us to be a missional strategy, but it is. It always has been. The felt forgiveness we experience from God should flow out through us to others. When we forgive rather than take offense, when…
